Urban Land Institute Hong Kong Housing Committee Kick-off Lunch
The ULI Hong Kong Housing Committee brings together real estate professionals, cross-disciplinary practitioners, government representatives and NGO leaders to explore Hong Kong’s housing challenges and opportunities. Through case-based discussions, we draw on expertise across the private, public and NGO sectors to connect research, practical experience and industry insights. Against the backdrop of a triple aging phenomenon: ageing building stock, ageing population, and the ageing construction industry, the Housing Committee will explore key questions in FY 2027:
How can we protect our residences against obsolescence, on account of age, wear and tear, of aging buildings, and in the face of increasing environmental risks?
What would it take to incentivize private owners to improve residential building quality and therefore enhance asset value?
Will Hong Kong see continued reliance on redevelopment and “greenfield” relocation or can we see greater civic responsibility and investment into increasing the longevity of our existing building stock?
How can we modify our homes, buildings and communities to ensure safer “Ageing-in-Place”?
Is there adequate white space for institutional ageing facilities (managed senior housing) in Hong Kong? What would it take to expand this market?
The committee met for the first time over a kick-off lunch and explored topics of interests for FY2027. Stay tuned for more updates!
